Sonja R. Kinney, MD, is Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Kinney is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Kinney received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. She earned her medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. She completed her medical residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City before joining UNMC in 2001. She serves on the Medical Advisory Board for the Every Woman Matters Program for the state of Nebraska.

Dr. Kinney is a member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, the American Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and the American Medical Association. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has authored numerous abstracts and presented at several grand rounds and society meetings. Dr. Kinney's research and teaching interests have focused on prevention of cervical cancer. She has received five research grants for the Olson Center for Women's Health aimed at preventing cervical cancer.
